This week, I’m delighted to be able to share with you my chat with Laura Donnelly, health editor at The Telegraph. She discusses how you can pitch to the publication and the type of story she’s keen to receive.
The Telegraph is one of Britain’s oldest and most influential newspapers, so it’s always a great place to get featured if you’re aiming to promote a campaign or raise your (or your client’s) public profile.
And as one of Fleet Street’s most experienced health editors, there’s not much Laura doesn’t know about reporting on the topic. Her job involves covering all aspects of UK health news for The Daily Telegraph, The Sunday Telegraph and telegraph.co.uk.
Laura accepts pitches from both PRs and freelance journalists. Here’s what she says about how to pitch to the Telegraph and what she’s looking for:
What does your job involve?
I write news stories, largely for the news pages of the Daily and Sunday Telegraph, as well as online. I deliver a mix of exclusive stories and keep across major breaking stories and diary news - eg journals, conferences and breakthroughs.
Occasionally, I write some articles that are features-led, and sometimes do a bit of video, but the vast majority is news-driven.
What topics and stories are you looking for?
